It was a cold, brisk morning and we headed out to Rockport (I think), Illinois to a tree farm where we could cut down our own Christmas Tree. This might be a new tradition for the Thomas Family, seeing that we've only purchased our trees from vendors near our home.
We all bundled up and went to this wonderful little tree farm. There we saw "Santa's Reindeer", goats, ponies, a donkey (don't worry Bob, you are much better looking) and lots of golden retrievers (I guess, when not selling trees, they also sell puppies).
We took a horse drawn hitch to the type of trees we wanted and aided with a hand saw, we tromped around until we found our perfect tree. After freezing our feet, hands and other body parts in the teen degree weather, we finally found it. Daniel sawed it down and between he and Galen they carried it to the road where we hitched another horse drawn ride back to the actual barn.
There was a nice little shop where we could warm up with hot chocolate, fudge and lots of other goodies. It was a very fun new tradition!
